CARF's evaluation of Centered Care of Michigan also included the following:

"On balance, Centered Care Of Michigan demonstrated substantial conformance to the standards. Centered Care Of Michigan provides excellent rehabilitation care to the persons served in its residential, outpatient, and vocational services. The leadership and treatment teams work well together and have a desire to provide excellent care in addition to continually improving the services they deliver. There is a supportive and caring environment among staff members, persons served, and leadership. Feedback from persons served in the residential and outpatient programs, staff members, and external stakeholders was positive, and persons served are improving in the areas of function, cognition, and behavior due to the rehabilitation services delivered. The programs have grown substantially in a short timeframe to provide services to the underserved population and those who would otherwise be unserved. The teams have fully embraced the value of the CARF standards and implemented many in a short timeframe."

In addition to longevity with the organization, a significant number of members started in direct care roles or other roles within the organization. There is a strong commitment to mentorship, staff development, and promoting from within.

  • The residential rehabilitation program has well-planned and attractive houses that include barrier-free indoor and outdoor spaces, meeting the various needs of the persons served and allowing them to socialize with families and peers. The houses are decorated with input from the persons served to establish homelike environments, with their personal preferences incorporated into their individual rooms. Staff members in the program treat the houses like the homes of the persons served, not places of work, and in this way are respectful of maintaining the homelike feel of each site.
  • The residential program provides numerous opportunities for persons served to participate in household, instrumental, and recreational activities of daily living within the houses that help them establish skills for more independent living.
  • The staffing ratios in the residential program and availability of vehicles not only allow persons served to attend essential appointments but also enhance community reintegration, recreation, and vocational activities. This improves the quality of life for the persons served.
  • Feedback from stakeholders indicated the heart, passion, individualized care, flexibility, and innovation provided by Centered Care Of Michigan, which is difficult to find in other residential rehabilitation programs
  • The physical plant of the outpatient program is an inviting, well-appointed, and welcoming environment. There is state-of-the-art equipment for the therapists to utilize with the persons served to maximize rehabilitation outcomes. There is also a quiet space for the persons served to relax in and a music/recording studio.
  • One person served spoke particularly highly of the services provided by the outpatient programming at the organization, stating that the treatment team is caring, puts people first, believes in individualized treatment planning, and is overall very in tune with their needs.
  • Families value the support given to the persons served. They noted that services are creative, outside of the box, person centered, and accommodating of scheduling needs.
  • Stakeholders described their relationships with the organization as partnerships. One stakeholder stated that the program is "a blessing to the community" and appreciates the value of having all services together. This stakeholder said the program's growth is moving it toward the ideal rehabilitation model and, overall, loves what the program is doing with special services offered, such as music therapy and yoga. The organization does all this with great integrity and character.
